RED SOX SLAP TWINS 8-2


Minneapolis,MN- Gabe Kapler led the charge as the Red
Sox ended the Twins four game winning streak with an
8-2 win to take the first of the three game series
Friday night at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. 

Kapler went 3 for 5 at the plate with 3 R.B.I's and a
run scored as the Sox improved to 56-45 on the season.
Bronson Arroyo picked up his 4th win of the season on
the mound giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking
out 8 and walking none in 7.1 innings pitched. Jason
Varitek hit his 12th homer of the season, a solo shot
in the top of the 9th, to cap off the victory for
Boston.

Kyle Lohse took the loss on the mound for Minnesota,
getting touched for 7 runs and 11 hits in 4 plus
innings of work.

Game two of the three game set will be played Saturday
night. Derek Lowe will take the hill for Boston, while
Brad Radke will look to get the Twins back in the win
column. First pitch is set for 6:05PM CST.
